14-year-old killed after being hit by car near Marcus High School
A 14-year-old girl died after she was hit by a car near Marcus High School Tuesday afternoon.
According to Flower Mound police, a 60-year-old driver of a 2020 Chevrolet truck was initially stopped at a stop sign on Browning Drive facing south toward Valley Ridge Boulevard. The intersection is a three-way stop. As the girl crossed the street, she was hit by the truck, police said. Police did not say which street she was crossing.
The teen was transported to Medical City Denton Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the truck remained on the scene.
Lewisville ISD confirmed in a statement that the victim was a freshman at Marcus 9th Grade Campus. Grief counselors will be on site for students and staff.
“We are deeply saddened to confirm that a Marcus 9th Grade Campus student was killed today in an auto pedestrian accident off campus. Our thoughts are with the family during this very difficult time. Out of respect for their privacy, we will not be sharing further personal information. Our crisis counseling team is available to support students and staff as they process this news. All questions regarding the accident should be directed to the Flower Mound Police Department, which is leading the investigation,” the district said in a statement.
