Two people were killed and three were injured Tuesday morning after a shooting in a Carrollton shopping center that is home to several Korean businesses.
Carrollton police posted on social media just before noon about the “active scene” in the 1500 block of Hebron Parkway near State Highway 121.
The shooting stemmed from a business meeting at a Korean market.
“It was not a random act,” Carrollton police chief Roberto Arrendondo said at a press conference. He also said it was not a hate crime.
Arrendondo said the FBI, ATF, Lewisville Police Department and Denton County Sheriff’s Office assisted in responding to the scene.
One video on X showed several officers carrying guns and walking past Leo’s Brunch House, a restaurant in the shopping center.
The suspect, a 69-year-old man, was taken into custody a few miles away by an H Mart near President George Bush Turnpike.
Police will hold a press conference at 1 p.m.
