After nearly $100,000 in donations, more changes are coming to the Flower Mound Public Library.

At a recent town council meeting, library staff was presented with checks for $2,575 from The Summit Club and Women of Flower Mound, $15,000 from Atmos Energy, and $80,000 from Friends of the Flower Mound Public Library.

The Summit Club  and Women of Flower Mound donation will be used for programs and materials like more STEM kits. The money from Atmos Energy is going toward the Summer Reading Program and the Friends of the Library donation will be used to expand the Creation Lab. The expansion includes 900 square feet for a sublation printer, heat presses, a Cameo 3 cutting machine, and more workspace.

“This expansion reflects both the incredible growth we’ve seen in the Creation Lab and the feedback we’ve heard from our community. With usage up more than 300 percent in the Creation Lab over the last year, it’s clear there’s a strong demand for creative, hands-on spaces,” said Rachel Hadidi, director of library services.

Money from Atmos Energy will also be used to extend the children’s play area to the patio, where there will be giant musical instruments and interactive outdoor play equipment.
