Did you see fire hydrants spewing water on Flower Mound Rd? They’re not broken.

Three fire hydrants on Flower Mound Road were gushing water this week because of work being completed by the town.
Motorists driving on Flower Mound Road between Long Prairie Road and Gerault Road on Wednesday and Thursday could see the fire hydrants were open, with water spilling onto ground. Public Works was preparing a water line for condition assessment work and had to take it out of service, according to the town’s communications director, Melissa Demmitt.
Now that they’re bringing the line back into service, most of the fire hydrants should be closed back up on Friday.
The Flower Mound Fire Department does do regular maintenance on fire hydrants, including flushing and testing water flow, but those tests are done across the town and not in a concentrated area.
