Council member Chris Drew announced on Monday night that he’s running for reelection in May.

"I kept my promises. We've lowered taxes," Drew said at the town council meeting. "We've had the maximum homestead exemption by law. We've increased our senior exemption to a record high. In development, we've always pushed for lower density, especially pushing away from non-owner occupied, multi-family that increases traffic and burdens our infrastructure."

Drew was first elected for Place 2 in 2023.

"Three years ago, I went to lunch with a former councilman and he asked me to run for council and I said no," Drew said at the town council meeting Monday with a laugh.

Drew, who was on the planning and zoning commission at the time, reconsidered a few months later.

Council members are allowed a maximum of two full consecutive terms, unless they run for mayor. Mayor pro tem Ann Martin will term out in 2026, so all new candidates will be running for her Place 5.

The election takes place on May 2.
