What made you want to run for office?

Serving the people of Texas’ Thirteenth Congressional District in Congress has been one of the greatest honors of my life. In 2024, the American people sent a clear message by re-electing the greatest President of our lifetime, President Donald J. Trump, and his presidency is already delivering historic results. But our work is far from finished. After four years of the Biden administration’s failed policies, I am committed to finishing the job we’ve started to get our country back by advancing our America First agenda and unleashing economic growth.

What experience do you bring to the office?

I bring decades of leadership in medicine, military service, and public service. After earning my Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and my medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch, I served 25 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Rear Admiral. I was deployed to one of Iraq's most dangerous regions during the War on Terror, and was selected to serve in the White House Medical Unit under President George W. Bush. I went on to become the Director of the White House Medical Unit and served as the Physician to the President during the Obama and Trump administrations. President Trump ultimately appointed me to serve as Chief Medical Advisor and Assistant to the President. Now in my third term representing Texas' Thirteenth Congressional District, I have continued to deliver results on the issues that matter most to the good people of our district.

Republicans currently have a tight margin in the House of Representatives. Are you willing to work across the aisle to pass legislation? How?

Bipartisan work is essential with our slim House majority. My Maintaining American Superiority by Improving Export Control Transparency Act, signed into law by President Trump last year, was a bipartisan piece of legislation that I proudly led with one of my Democrat colleagues. I will continue working across the aisle to deliver solutions that strengthen our national security, bolster our economy, and enhance every American’s quality of life.

If elected, what legislation would you pursue that would directly impact your constituents?

I'll fight for any legislation that delivers wins for Texas Thirteen. My track record speaks for itself: I've secured the largest tax cut in American history, delivered critical assistance for livestock producers devastated by the 2024 Panhandle wildfires, permanently secured the southern border, and brought home $2 million for the Denton Masch Branch Road Wastewater Improvement Project. Next term, I'll continue that same approach, identifying opportunities to deliver results for our district, whether that's tax relief, disaster assistance, combating illegal immigration, infrastructure funding, or any other legislation that puts the people of Texas Thirteen first.

What will be your biggest priorities in Congress?

My top three priorities will be:

I will continue working closely with President Trump to deliver a more prosperous future for our country. As his former physician, Chief Medical Advisor and Assistant to the President, I have seen first hand his commitment to putting America First in every decision he makes. I look forward to advancing that America First vision and remaining one of President Trump’s strongest and closest allies in Congress.

I am committed to a strong national defense and to supporting the vital work being done at Sheppard Air Force Base, Pantex Plant, Bell Helicopter, and numerous other defense stakeholders in Texas Thirteen, where innovation, readiness, and American strength are on full display.

Serving on the House Agriculture Committee, I remain steadfast in supporting Texas agriculture and standing with the hardworking farmers and ranchers of Texas’ Thirteenth Congressional District, the number one agriculture district in the state.

As a member of the House Intelligence, Armed Services, Agriculture, and Foreign Affairs committees, I am in a strong position to keep TX-13 at the forefront of national agriculture and defense policy and make sure our district’s voice is heard.

What do you think is the biggest issue the country is facing?

One of the biggest issues we are facing is affordability. Our country faced historic inflation under Joe Biden, but thanks to President Trump’s bold leadership and the implementation of historic tax cuts included in the One Big Beautiful Bill, we are finally seeing the benefits of Republicans’ America First agenda. If re-elected, I will continue working to lower energy costs, support farmers and ranchers who feed and clothe the world, and ensure Americans keep more of their hard-earned tax dollars. We’ve made unprecedented progress, but we know there is still more work to do to support American families.
